English Drama

On Tuesday, June 11th, we, the 4e Section Européenne, presented, in front of our parents and schoolmates, three short plays that we had been preparing for a few weeks with Miss Havas. The first one was about shopping, the second one was about poetry and the last one was about travels and holidays.            Joyce

Smart shoppers

I played in the play about shopping. I was a woman who always wants new dresses or coats. Ethel was my husband. It was very funny. Flora was the shopkeeper. Our play is very short but it's difficult to learn the text and play. The other plays were very funny too!                           Jeanne

Colin the poet

This play is about a young poet who irritates his family a lot. But one day he wins a trip to New York, for two, and suddenly everybody finds him very interesting!

We had a lot of rehearsals, so I knew my lines by heart, but I admit I was a bit nervous...My role is a father tired of his son who only speaks in vain and recites poems.  Angelica

Holiday In Rome

Holiday in Rome is a short play about a husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Davies. Every Holiday, they go to a hotel in Bournemouth, a little hotel with strict schedules and a very strict landlady. They can't eat after 6.30!!!

One day, they are walking in Bournemouth and they see a poster: " Summer Lottery, win 1 000 000 pounds! Last day! Don't miss your chance!" Seeing this poster, they imagine what they could do with one million pounds: " We could go to Rome!" So Mr Davies decides to buy a lottery ticket!

A few days later, while they are having breakfast at the hotel, a woman comes and tells them they have won the lottery! They can't believe it! And at this moment, the landlady comes and says: " Oh, that's fantastic! Congratulations, shall I book you in for next year?" The Davies pretend not to have heard... They sign the cheque and say "Now we can even go to Rome!" The landlady, annoyed, exclaims: " Rooome? What's Rome got that Bournemouth hasn't? !!   Anouk

The one I played in was about a couple who always spends  holiday in the same small hotel in England. Then one day the couple wins the lottery and goes to Rome... I loved playing the part, it was great and it would be greater to do it again!  Anaïs

After several rehearsals we presented our plays
The show was very successful.
The costumes and the scenery were very funny and the make-up beautiful.
Mrs Havas told us that we were talking too fast …but the public laugh during pieces !  Annah

All afternoon, we rehearsed the plays, and we checked if we had all the costume..  There was a good atmosphere!
At 5: 45, the audience arrived:
our friends, our parents, some teachers, Mrs Guisnet and Mr Rubio. During the show, what
was the most difficult it was not to laugh! Generally, we didn’t laugh, but
sometimes we couldn’t refrain it (especially during rehearsals)
I had a really good time!   Mya

We rehearsed as much as we could, and on show-day, it was almost perfect! It was very nice to be somebody who doesn't look like us. Some costumes were really funny, especially with the make-up!
A lot of people made fun of me. But I think they were right! :)

It was a lot of stress but it was great and efforts have been rewarded: people laughed in the room, and we did as well... XD

I hope we can do something like that next year... Even better maybe?
Thank you for the great idea! Marie M.

Our parents and our friends came to school to see us.
I thought it was funny and great !            Marie L

I think it was a good experience to do some drama in English, so I am really happy! Mélissa.

We started with the casting for the three plays. Then we learned the text and we rehearsed with it. Then we worked the " acting skills": it's the hardest! But gradually we learned to be better actors. It was very funny!    William
